What is coir mat fiber?

The coconut growers use every part of the coconut.  Coir mats are made from the bark of the coconuts.  After the husks are seasoned in large lagoons,the fibers are extracted by beating the husks with wooden mats.  The fibers are woven into mats in the small coastal villages of Kerala and then colorful, fade-resistant designs are stenciled on them.

What makes these mats different? 

These mats light up!  A battery operated sensor box that includes options for constant light or for motion activated light make the mats light up.  The lights are embedded into the mat to protect them and to make them invisible during the day.

Mat Care:

They can also be hosed off.  Disconnect the battery operated motion sensor box and remove.  Spray the mat gently with a garden hose to wash off any accumulated dirt.  Shake and let dry before reconnecting the battery operated motion sensor box.
